About JSX Tool
Jamie and Dan have been friends for nearly 20 years. We both grew up on New York City's Upper West Side and attended Bard High School on the Lower East Side of Manhattan. Over the past two decades, we've conspired to work on something together. A year ago, we hacked on a mobile app to bypass news site paywalls and decided we wanted to continue working together after that experience.
How we got here
Jamie has had a deep interest in higher order programming for a while. He previously built a version control system to diff and merge structured, non-textual assets. Many of the problems that come up in version control systems are very similar to the problems encountered when mapping DOM elements back to their textual representations.
Our goal with JSX tool is to make React development truly browser first. We believe the future of React tooling lives where your code actually runs. Context isn't only useful for LLMs, it's crazy we've spent over a decade in a world of component-driven development without ever really being able to see our code or make edits in our browsers.
